Thriller author Vince Flynn was a favorite of mine. He passed away last week after a battle with cancer. Only after his death did I find out that his first book, Term Limits, was self-published after 60 rejections. He is said to have sold his books out of the trunk of his car. His tenacity helped him promote his book to great popularity and it got the attention of a traditional publisher, where it went on to become a best seller. He went on to write 13 more best sellers.
I’m just starting out as a self-published author, but I look to him as an inspiration. He didn’t give up.
